Kronos dual - Between centres and centreless

The Mikrosa Kronos dual gives the combination of two grinding processes in one clamping: "Grinding between centres“ and "Centreless grinding“

Thanks to the combination of centreless grinding and grinding between centres, the Kronos dual provides a number of processing benefits. The technological highlight is the retention of the workpiece centre in centreless grinding. Since the workpiece centre is not lost, nothing is left to chance anymore. Its field of application is to be seen whenever previous or successive work steps require processing from the centres.

The Kronos dual guarantees shorter processing times through higher stock removal performance with the combination of grinding between centres and centreless grinding. By means of the innovative expansion to grinding between centres, a first-rate economical solution has been found, based on the machine concept of the tried and true Kronos L 660, with all of its benefits and features. A tailstock on the control side and a workpiece spindle stock with synchronisation drive behind the workpiece support bracket are provided for accepting between centres work.

  • First-rate economical solution

  • Combination of centreless grinding and grinding between centres

  • The workpiece centre is not lost

  • Shorter processing times

Mikrosa Kronos dual - workpiece held between centresCharacteristics:
  • Considerably shorter machining times with higher accuracies compared with
grinding between centres because the workpieces do not bow.
  • Grinding and regulating wheel widths up to 660 mm
  • New drive technology for the grinding wheel and regulating wheel spindle, in
particular for application of high speed technology with CBN grinding wheels
(circumferential speed up to 120 m/s)
  • Max. 100 kW drive output enables high removal rates
  • Extreme system rigidity, high thermal stability
  • Full enclosure of the working area for a safe and environmentally friendly operation
