STUDER
opens the new Customer Centre
Extensive
cylindrical grinding technological expertise for the customer
More
than 300 grinding tests on customer workpieces, almost 1,000
participants in an extensive training program, a strongly
increasing demand for machine demonstrations and consultation
– this was how Studer's last annual statement on the subject
of "In-situ customer service" looked.
The new
"Customer Center" was established in the main building on
Thunstrasse to cope with the growing demand for technological
support and training. The new centre includes a fully
air-conditioned demonstration room with a surface area of 1200
m2, which accommodates up to 12 machines from the
current production range.
1 conference room, 7 meeting rooms and 4 theory training rooms
provide ample opportunity for discussions, meetings and
presentations. For relaxation in between, there is a cafeteria
and a museum with an impressive collection of older STUDER
machines, as well as documents and relics from the company's
almost 100 year history.
A visits to
the centre will be enhanced by the attractive architecture and
a future bistro. In order to
emphasize the brand claim "The Art of Grinding", the meeting
rooms in the STUDER company have been named after artists
associated with Switzerland.
Studer's
technological expertise is today based on three complementary
areas: The new "Customer Center" is in direct proximity to the
production grinding shop, where workpieces are manufactured
for Studer's production program and - to a limited extent -
for third-party customers on 12 further Studer machines.
The third main pillar is formed by the "Tech Center", which
has been in existence for five years; here, the further
development of precision machining processes is advanced on 10
Studer machines. The "Tech Center" also develops production
solutions for customers, for example in "Simultaneous
Engineering Projects", and develops prototypes for future
machine solutions.
In addition to the innovative machine technology,
characterized by Studer's renowned high standards of precision
and reliability, comprehensive customer consultation, training
and the identification of solutions for cylindrical grinding
tasks have for decades provided the basis for the confidence
which the constantly growing clientele show in the STUDER
brand. The constant further development of test and training
concepts, the expansion of specialist knowledge, and the
qualification of specialist consultation staff are also given
top priority.
The training
offered, with 20 different standard courses, includes, for
example:
- Basic grinding course
- CNC operator course
- Mechanical service course
- Electrical service course
- 10 STUDER software operator courses
In addition to the specifically equipped machines, modules and
simulators are also available for providing training in
control systems, software modules and drives:
All courses are offered in the four languages German, English,
French and Italian. Courses in other languages are provided
with the help of interpreters.
In addition to the standard training courses, individual
instruction and consultation sessions are also possible.
Approximately 200 training courses are held each year.
In our experience, the investment in training for operators,
programmers and maintenance personnel pays for itself very
quickly, thanks to the considerable increase in machine life
time and productivity.
