Fritz Studer Research Prize
Invitation for Entries
Fritz Studer
AG, one of the world's leading grinding machine manufacturers,
headquarters in Thun, Switzerland, announces the Fritz Studer
Research Prize for 2005.
This research
prize addresses students and young graduates from
universities, institutes of technology and advanced technical
colleges in Europe, who have worked on scientific subjects in
the course of their academic, bachelor, master and diploma
studies or in their dissertations or key applied research
topics, or who possess well founded initial results from their
areas of research.
The entries
must be devoted to one of the following areas:

Innovative
machine concepts and components
-
Alternative
materials in mechanical engineering
-
Simulation
models of the dynamic and thermal behaviour of machine tools
-
Control and
sensor concepts for machine tools
-
New or
further developed manufacturing technologies, especially in
extra-fine hard machining, such as grinding, hard turning,
etc.
The submitted
work should have the goal of putting forward feasible ideas
that enhance the machine industry's power of innovation. By
competing with their ideas in this contest, young scientists
and engineers can also find a platform for their creative
approaches. An individual or a research team will be awarded
the prize. The Fritz Studer Research Prize is CHf 10,000.
All entries
for the Fritz Studer Research Prize must be submitted by
September 30th 2005. The prize award will take place
during the Studer MOTION-meeting in February 2006.
