1912, Fritz Studer entered the market and the
development of grinding technology progressed very rapidly
indeed. While the first cylindrical grinding machine was
used for the company's own needs in the mechanical
workshop, the further development of it, the OA model,
caused a sensation on the market.
The OB universal
cylindrical grinding machine was a long running success
for over 40 years.
In order
to get grinding technology where it is today - through
research, persistence, plus constant development and
innovation. It was no accident that the former mechanical
workshop developed into the leader of the global grinding
market. This development has not stopped. Just as
Studer has made history in the grinding sector since 1912,
they will continue to advance and perfect 'The Art of
Grinding' in the years and decades to come. That is
their commitment to progress and the perfect grinding
technology.
1912
Studer has been
seriously influencing the history of grinding since 1912.
From a small company at that time Studer has developed
into an international enterprise which today employs 500
people. Their position as industry leader is thanks to the
know-how they have acquired through manufacturing more
than 16,000 machines. The pioneering spirit of that era is
also reflected in their product range today.
1914
Founder Fritz Studer
presenting the cylindrical grinding machine type OA at the
Swiss National Exhibition in Berne.
1939
The range of totally mechanical machines available is
expanded by the first universal cylindrical grinding
machine RHU450 with hydraulic control
1943
First Studer machine
exported to the USA.
1961
The largest expansion
to-date doubles the available capacity. Parallel to this,
the production equipment and methods of manufacture are
updated to meet the latest requirements.
1977
Studer launches the first
CNC cylindrical grinding machine in the world Studer
presents a world first: Machine beds cast from the mineral
casting "Granitan".
1990
Studer achieves the ISO 9001
Quality Assurance Certificate as one of the first machine
tool manufacturers to do so.
1994
Integration of Studer AG
into the Schleifring group, a member of the German Körber
group.
1998
Studer launches a world
innovation, the S21leanCNC, and with this machine lays the
foundation for a fundamental concept for the future.
2000
With a restructured range of
products and a healthy financial situation Studer is all
set to meet the challenges of the next Millennium.
2002
Studer celebrates its 90
year anniversary.
2003
Studer begins the year with
a new, fresh and modern identity, also applied on the
design of the machines.
2004
Presentation
of the new S12 high-precision cylindrical grinding machine
complete with linear technology at the MAN Museum in
Augsburg, Germany
2005
The Grinding
Symposium held at Thun Expo Centre demonstrated many new
models including the S12 plus the heavy duty S36 and the
all new S242 flexible machine for grinding and turning
operations in a single machine which will also be unveiled
at the 'EMO' exhibition at Hanover, Germany in September
2005.
Future
Continue setting standards in Cylindrical Grinding Machine
Technology and to continue to advance and perfect 'The
Art of Grinding'.
